Priorities in cooperation between Russia and Poland in the sphere of science must be determined by scientists themselves, said Russian President Vladimir Putin at the opening ceremony of the Days of Polish Science in Russia held in the Scientists House in Moscow. In his speech the head of the Russian state mentioned some priorities in the development of Russian science. According to Vladimir Putin, "it is important for us first of all to solve ecological problems." He said that Russia had been working in this sphere for a long time now, and at the present time an ecological doctrine is being worked out. Vladimir Putin proposed that the Polish scientists should work jointly with their Russian colleagues over its regional aspects. Priorities in applied sciences, pointed out the President, are high technologies and innovation programmes. Vladimir Putin underscored that we have things to be proud of, since about a hundred projects are being carried out within the framework of Russia's bilateral contacts.
