Vice-premier of the Russian government Valentina Matviyenko is to leave for Paris Sunday to take part in the work of the 31st session of UNESCO General Conference, press secretary of the vice-premier Svetlana Kryshtanovskaya reported. The regular session of UNESCO General Conference will open Monday, October 15, and focus on issues of education, science and culture. The session is being held on the eve of UNESCO's 55th anniversary. Valentina Matviyenko is expected to appear at the session Tuesday, October 16, to make a report on the main directions of the Russia-UNESCO cooperation. The programme of the vice-premier's visit to Paris includes meetings with French minister of employment and solidarity Elisabeth Guigou and minister of national education Jack Lang.
