The Georgian Security Ministry has opened an investigation into the shooting down of a UN helicopter in the Kodori Gorge on the 8th of October, which resulted in the deaths of 5 UN observers, 3 crew and a translator. The Georgian General Prosecutors office said on Thursday, that the investigations department of the Georgian Security Ministry will also investigate violations of the state borders by aircraft from foreign nations that are creating dangers to settlements. The attack on the UN helicopter has been claimed to result from the fact that on the 9th of October a number of helicopters and aeroplanes violated Georgian airspace and bombed villages in the Kodori Gorge.
