Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia would develop economic programmes on its own at a new stage of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund. Putin reaffirmed, while opening Thursday conversations with the IMF managing director Horst Koehler, that Russia counted on further cooperation with the Fund. Moscow expects this cooperation to be "not only methodic, but also more profound" and is "very interested in the three-year programme currently elaborated by Russian and IMF experts".
