Pakistani authorities have officially confirmed the deployment of the first American troops in, at least, two Pakistani military bases located in the towns of Jacobabad (the Sind province) and Pasni (the Balucistan province on the Arabian Sea coast). Secretary of the Pakistani Information Ministry Anwar Mahmoud refused to give the exact number of the arrived American servicemen saying only that they are "the support force." The government of General Pervez Musharraf agreed to provide the USA with Pakistani air space, as well as with intelligence and "surface technical support." According to Mahmoud, the arrived force will participate in the counter-terrorist operation in Afghanistan, but it is not a combat unit and that's why it will not be directly involved in the military action.
