First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Trubnikov and Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Dalmau Fernandez discussed Wednesday the situation in the world in the wake of the US airstrikes on Afghanistan, said the Russian Foreign Ministry press service. According to the Ministry, the sides noted that "all kinds of terrorism are a global threat, and the combat against it demands action the world community must take on the basis of international law, with United Nations Organization and its Security Council playing the central coordinating role." The conferees emphasized that "all means should be employed to counter this threat to international peace and stability, in accordance with the UN Charter". The two diplomats discussed the process of integration in former Soviet states and in Latin America. Trubnikov worded Russia's principled approaches to promotion of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the CIS member-states as a crucial foreign policy task.
