Taliban Works Out Strategy Against U.S. Plans To Set Up New Government In Kabul

Taliban and its Pakistani supporters have worked out a strategy against US plans to set up a new government in Kabul. According to the influential English-language newspaper News, Taliban's strategy is to enlist the support of ex-Mojahed commanders and chiefs of Pashtoon tribes by playing on the national feelings of freedom-loving Pashtoons. Other contemplated allies include Pakistani radical parties and ethnic Pashtoons serving in the Pakistani army and police. The idea behind the plan is to retaliate against Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf's decision to support the US in its struggle against terrorism by stirring up discontent amidst Pakistani society. In the meantime, several outstanding Afghan commanders and Mojahed leaders, including Gulbeddin Hekmatyar, Yunus Khalili and Nabi Mohammad, have already declared their intention to side with Taliban in case the US attacks Afghanistan. Taliban has many supporters among the Pashtoon population of Pakistan's Northwestern border province, where numerous rallies are being held against infidels in general and the US in particular.
