Moscow considers its relations with Great Britain a top priority of its foreign policy. According to official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovlenko, "Great Britain is an important Russian partner in the UN Security Council, G-8, in European affairs, within relationship with NATO, European Union and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, as well as in solving various international problems." There Yakovlenko meant issues concerning international terrorism counteraction, combating organized crime and drugs trafficking, the issues of disarmament and settlement of conflicts. According to the Foreign Ministry's spokesman, Russia "appreciates London's willingness and its practical effort targeted at integration of Russia into international organizations and its full participation in their functioning."
