Russia is ready for serious changes in relationships with NATO, said former Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov in a conversation with journalists. "If NATO keeps joining efforts to combat international terrorism, if NATO's peacekeeping activities answer the hopes of a lot of people, why don't we cooperate?" he said. Primakov did not bar the possibility that Russia might joint NATO. "Everything depends on what NATO will be. If this organization becomes more political and lose the shade it has now, why doesn't Russia join it?" he added. At the same time, he is of the opinion that "nobody will admit Russia to NATO, because, on the one hand, NATO will not change, and on the other hand, nobody will want to admit Russia, because they don't want any changes to happen."
