Zhirinovsky Thinks Terrorist Actions Were Favorable For USA And Unfavorable For Russia

"No matter who was behind the terrorist acts in the USA on September 11, this was favorable for the USA and aimed against Russia," State Duma deputy speaker Vladimir Zhirinovsky announced at the conference 'Security of Russia on the threshold of a new type of war' today. He noted that the anti-terrorist coalition will not manage to fight only terrorism and not Islam. In the opinion of the Duma official, in this situation Russia should remain neutral. Meanwhile, it has already embarked in adventures as Russia is supporting the Northern Alliance and its activities against the Talibs. Zhirinovsky thinks that now the Talibs have a real opportunity to move into Middle Asia and start a large-scale war there. This may result in serious losses for Russia. The Duma deputy thinks that Russia should not quarrel with its southern neighbors, it should not enter NATO but settle the conflict in Chechnya as soon as possible. He also stressed that Russia should resist attempts of the USA to make it fight with the Islamic world. This will definitely make Russia weak because it will not win this war, Zhirinovsky stressed.
