Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko acknowledges the country's economy may be facing a setback as the global economy looks set to plunge. "In light of the existing challenges of negative kind [in the global economy], the actions of the Belarussian leadership will be adjusted significantly," Lukashenko said in a statement. He believes Belarus must weather the global recession and "should not lose anything." The President stressed the importance of keeping up the trade balance and retaining staunch trade partners such as Russia in the face of these developments.
