A State Duma delegation is due to fly to Tajikistan on a working visit on October 24th. Deputy speaker Vladimir Lukin, who will lead the delegation, told RIA Novosti today that the deputies would be making a return visit, as a group of Tajik parliamentarians came to Moscow last year. According to Lukin, the Russian politicians will meet leaders of the Tajik parliament and deputies from Islamic factions, as well as representatives of all the main parties in parliament. They all plan to discuss legislative work, in particular, the joint ratification of a series of bilateral governmental agreements. In view of the current difficult situation on the Tajik-Afghan border, the Russian deputies will also meet the command of the 201st Russian border guard detachment, which is stationed on the aforementioned frontier. The delegation will return to Moscow on October 29th.
