The meeting of the governmental representatives of the Islamic State of Afghanistan and former King Zahir Shah is to be postponed for an uncertain period, informed sources in the Afghan government said. They recalled that the negotiations were to be held on Monday in Turkey within the framework of the recently-formed Supreme Council for the National Unity of Afghanistan. The negotiations are to be postponed because the Burhanuddin Rabbani government is now specifying the list of its delegates to the meeting with the king. The meeting of the supreme state body of the Islamic State of Afghanistan - Shura-e-Milli /the Supreme Council/ is being held under the chairmanship of President Burhanuddin Rabbani in Panjesher /Afghanistan's North-East/. The participants in the meeting are discussing and specifying the list of candidates in the Council for the National Unity - Shura-e-Wahdat-i-Milli. This new body is expected to include 120 members - 50 representatives of Burhanuddin Rabbani, 50 representatives of Zahir Shah and 20 members by mutual consent of the sides. In accordance with the agreements reached in the Italian capital of Rome Shura-e-Wahdat-I-Milli will be formed to call Loya Jirga (the Grand Assembly) after the overthrow of the Taliban. A provisional government is likely to be called under the supervision of Shura-e-Wahdat-I-Milli to be in force before the Loya Jirga call.
