Afghan War Approaching Tajik-Afghan Border

Clashes between the Northern Alliance and Taliban units were continuing throughout Monday in the immediate proximity of the Tajik-Afghan border. The Taliban positions near the Zardkamar village came under artillery fire on Monday. Approximately 30 tank shells were fired. Powerful explosions were registered in the vicinity of the Ivaj border station. The explosions went off in the nearby Afghan village of Tashkurgan located 20 km away from the Tajik-Afghan border. According to the press service of the Tajik detachment of the Russian Federal Frontier Service, Russian border guards have no information about the death toll and casualties of the opposing sides.
