During a seminar in Hanoi held on Tuesday, representatives of Russian and Vietnamese business circles stated that the present level of the trade-turnover between the two countries did not meet the potential or desires of both nations. It was suggested that if customs regulations were brought into line and simplified as soon as possible, with inter-regional ties being expanded and a clear mechanism for payments being created, then a significant and rapid increase in the trade-turnover could take place. The seminar, which was dedicated to the state of and prospects for business co-operation between Russia and Vietnam, featured the participation of the leadership of the Hanoi economic committee and about 100 businessmen employed in state, co-operative, mixed and private enterprises. Members of Russian organisations also took part, as did Russian Ambassador Andrei Tatarinov. The businessmen paid particular attention to the possibilities for developing bilateral business and economic co-operation, having noted its positive dynamics over the past few years.
