Turkey and Georgia will sign a treaty on cooperation in the fight against terrorism. This agreement was reached on Friday in Tbilisi during the meeting of Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze and Turkish President Ahmed Necdet Sezer who is in Georgia on an official visit. "I proposed to Eduard Shevardnadze to sign a tripartite agreement between Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan in the sphere of combating terrorism," said the Turkish President at a briefing after his meeting with Eduard Shevardnadze. According to him, Turkey has signed a similar treaty with Bulgaria and Romania. Eduard Shevardnadze expressed the hope that Azerbaijan would support the initiative. The Georgian President believes that after progress is achieved in settling the conflicts in the region, other countries, too, will join the treaty.
