On the British initiative, a telephone conversation between Russia's president Vladimir Putin and Britain's prime minister Tony Blair was held Friday. The Russian president's press service told RIA Novosti that Tony Blair informed Vladimir Putin of the results of his talks with US president George Bush held in Washington. The British prime minister expressed hope that the Russian president's forthcoming visit to the United States would be a success. The two countries' leaders exchanged their points of view on the anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan and discussed joint actions aimed at promoting a Mid-East settlement.
