Moldovan President To Arrive In Moscow Sunday Night

The agenda of talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Moldovan counterpart Vladimir Voronin on November 19 in Moscow is to feature a wide range of issues in the Russian-Moldovan relations, including cooperation in energy and gas industry, agriculture, and the humanitarian sphere, sources in the Moldovan Embassy in Moscow disclosed Friday. The two presidents expect to exchange views on issues of Transnistrian settlement and Russia's role in the process, as well as the situation around the presidential election scheduled for December 9 in Transnistria. They may also take up the legal status of the Russian language in Moldova. Voronin will arrive in Moscow on an official visit late on Sunday. Moldovan diplomats said the business part of the visit is to begin on Monday. Voronin is expected to see President Putin early on Monday. The talks will culminate in signing a basic political treaty on friendship and cooperation between the two nations, Moldovan diplomats said. They elaborated the treaty is meant to uphold the current level of Moldovan-Russian ties and to make forging closer ties possible in various spheres in the future. Voronin will meet Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov, Federation Council Speaker Yegor Stroyev, and State Duma Speaker Gennady Seleznyov later in the day.
