Anatoly Kvashnin, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, has arrived in Brussels to participate in a one-day meeting of the Russia-NATO Permanent Joint Council. The meeting will be held at the level of chiefs of general staffs on November 21. The meeting will focus on the state and prospects for the development of practical military collaboration between Russia and NATO, a spokesman for the Russian Defence Ministry said. The development of the sides' interaction to combat international terrorism and conduct peace-keeping operations in the Balkans will be also discussed, as will the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. In addition, they will consider the anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan. General Kvashnin is to inform his NATO counterparts about the forms of Russia's participation in this operation. The Chief of the Russian General Staff is to take part in the work of the Military Committee of Euro-Atlantic Partnership and to hold several bilateral meetings.
