General Tommy Franks Arrives In Tashkent

General Tommy Franks, the Commander-in-Chief of the US Central Command, arrived in Tashkent on Tuesday. This is the US General's third visit to Uzbekistan in 2001. He paid his last visit to Uzbekistan in late October. General Franks is to discuss bilateral cooperation, regional security and other issues of mutual interest with Uzbek Defence Minister Kadyr Gulyamov, Rear Admial Craig Quigly, who heads the US Central Command's PR Centre, told RIA Novosti. According to the Rear Admiral, Tommy Franks will visit the Khanabad military base near the town of Karshi and take a closer look at how the US servicemen stationed at this base live.
