OSCE-Turkmen Contacts Come Under Debate

OSCE-Turkmen partnership prospects came under discussion as Adrian Severin, Parliamentary Assembly President of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, sat in conference with Speaker Redjepbai Arazov of Turkmenistan's parliament, and Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs. The conferees pointed out an urgent necessity to establish a trans-Asian legislative forum to gather annually under the OSCE aegis and discuss security and other topical regional problems. As Mr. Severin was visiting Turkmenistan, he received firsthand information about its parliamentary arrangements, legislative specificities, and Foreign Ministry initiatives.
