Speaking at a final press-conference in Moscow Friday, NATO Secretary-General George Robertson admitted better understanding after the hijacking attacks in the USA on September 11 of Russia's anxiety over the spread of international terrorism in Chechnya. We respect Russia's territorial integrity and efforts to establish constitutional law and order on its territory, he said. We are standing shoulder-to-shoulder, we are brethren-in-arms in the battle against terrorism threatening all the civilized world, continued Robertson, adding however that NATO countries are still concerned over numerous casualties among the civilian population in Chechnya.
