The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, attaches a lot of importance to his forthcoming visit to Moscow. "Late November will be a busy time for Belarus, with an anniversary CIS summit and full-scale talks between the Russian and the Belarusian presidents and prime ministers," Lukashenko said at a Monday session in the runup to his working visit to Moscow, scheduled for November 28 through 30. According to Lukashenko, long- and short-term practical steps are to be worked out at the upcoming Moscow talks. "As far as the Union of Russia and Belarus is concerned, we are to dot the 'i's' and cross the 't's'," Lukashenko said, stressing that "it is necessary to analyse the legal basis once again and to agree upon practical steps which can be taken next year." First of all, it is necessary to fulfil the agreements signed within the framework of the Russia-Belarus Union, in particular, the programme on the foundation of the Union, he said. In addition to the summit talks, Lukashenko is to meet with the heads of Russian companies, such as LUKOIL and Energia (a spacecraft corporation). According to Lukashenko, Belarus is involved in several projects with these two Russian groups.
