An Uzbek government delegation comprising that country's Deputy Prime Minister for economic issues, Defense Minister, Economics Minister and a Deputy Foreign Minister, negotiated with Deputy US Secretary of State Richard Armitage in Washington. This was disclosed by the US State Department's spokesman Richard Boucher. In his words, the Uzbek delegation's talks with Colin Powell's first deputy mostly dealt with current bilateral cooperation, including the provision of US aid to Uzbekistan. The Uzbek delegation is to conduct negotiations at some other US ministries and departments on Friday, also meeting representatives of international financial institutions, Boucher said in conclusion.
