The CIS Jubilee Summit Has Opened In The Grand Kremlin Palace In Moscow

The CIS jubilee summit opened on Friday in the Grand Kremlin Palace. It is attended by all the twelve presidents of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). At first they will hold a closed meeting and then - with the participation of all the delegations. The summit plans to result in adopting two documents - the Statement by the Heads of State of the CIS Member-Countries on the occasion of the foundation of the Commonwealth and the Joint Statement on the Situation Concerning Afghanistan. An important place in the meeting's agenda will be occupied by the item on the procedure of organising and holding joint anti-terrorist operations in the territories of the CIS countries. On the whole, the basic tasks of the summit are to sum up the results of the ten years that have passed since the moment of the foundation of the CIS and to map out the ways for the Commonwealth's development.
