Australian Special Task Detachment Arrives In Afghanistan

About 30 servicemen from the special task detachment of the Australian Air Force arrived in Afghanistan on Monday, announced Australian Defence Minister Robert Hill. According to Hill, the special task detachment will participate in an upcoming assault on Kandahar, the last stronghold of Taliban forces in southern Afghanistan, alongside US naval infantry. The remaining 120 servicemen of the special task detachment will join coalition forces on Tuesday or Wednesday. Australians will obey the orders of their top-brass but their actions will be coordinated by coalition commanders, said Hill.
