Belarus regards Libya as a promising partner in North Africa, Andrei Savinykh, the deputy head of the Belarussian Foreign Ministry's information department, said on Thursday. The first meeting of the Russian-Libyan joint commission on economic, trade, scientific and technical cooperation will be held in Tripoli, the capital of Libya, on January 15-19. Foreign Minister Mikhail Khvostov will head the Belarussian delegation. The commission is to discuss the supplies to Libya of Belarussian equipment and consumer goods. The results of the meeting will allow Belarussian commodity producers to consolidate their positions at the promising market in Libya under the conditions of the growing competition of western countries, the Belarussian Foreign Ministry said.
