Results Of Tender For Purchasing Fighters For Brazilian Air Force To Be Made Public In May

Russian companies as well as Swedish-English, French-Brazilian and American companies will take part in the tender for the purchase of fighters for Brazilian Air Force. The results of the tender will be made public in May 2002, President Fernando Henrique Cardoso of Brazil said upon the completion of his meeting with speaker of the Federation Council Sergei Mironov. The president stressed that preference should be given to those who "offer not only better price but also the right to use its technology." Fernando Henrique Cardoso also said that about USD 700 million were allocated for the purchase of new aircraft within the framework of the Brazilian Air Force rearmament.
