There are no serious opponents to the development of relations with the world's major powers and NATO in Russia, President Vladimir Putin said ahead of his visit to Poland. Such a policy has no critics since it is not in conflict with the chief objective of any country's government - to promote its people's well-being and strengthen the country's foreign political positions, the Russian president said in an interview with the Polish news media. To maintain an adequate military potential, the country has to have a developed economy. To promote economic development in turn, it needs favourable foreign political conditions, according to President Putin. "To achieve the above we should develop contacts with Europe and the United States, with countries Russia does not share its borders with, and with our long-established partners, like Poland. We understand it only too well," emphasized Vladimir Putin.
