Israeli Missile Shelling Leaves A Mosque In Gaza Strip Damaged

During the Israeli missile shelling on Thursday evening, one of the mosques in the Gaza Strip was damaged. At that time sheikh Ahmed Yasin, the spiritual leader of the radical Islamic movement HAMAS, was in that mosque, but he remained safe and sound. In the small hours of Friday, the Israeli units again entered the area of the refugees' camp Khan-Yunes in the Gaza Strip and destroyed there several buildings which, according to the Israelis, were used by the Palestinians as covers for shelling the nearby Jewish settlement of Neve-Dkalim. On the Western Bank of the Jordan River last night the Israeli tanks also entered the Arab villages of Salfit and Asira-Shemalia near Nablus. This operation was supported from the air by combat helicopters. In Salfit a skirmish occurred between Israeli servicemen and Palestinians as a result of which one Palestinian was killed and several wounded. Dozens of Palestinians were arrested.
