Palestine is summoning Russia, as a participant in the Mideastern peace process, to be more active in order to overcome the present deadlock. This statement was made on Thursday by Khairi al-Oridi, the Ambassador of the Palestinian National Authority to Russia, during a press conference in Moscow. He highly appraised the address sent several days before by Russian President Vladimir Putin to the leader of the Palestinian National Authority Yasser Arafat. Speaking about the steps that Russia and international community can make to achieve piece in the Middle East, he emphasised that the Palestinian position totally coincided with proposals of international community. "We totally agree with Russia, the European Union, United Sates, Arab nations and other interested parties that the deadlock could be overcome only by means of fulfilling the prescriptions of the Mitchell commission based on the Tenet plan," he stressed. According to the Ambassador, the mechanism is quite sufficient to make the sides return to the table of negotiations.
