Besides the Embassy in Kabul, India will open four Consulates in Jalalabad, Kandahar, Gerat and Mazar-i-Sharif. A RIA Novosti correspondent reports that Minister of External Affairs of India Jaswant Singh stated this on Sunday after his return from Kabul where he participated in the official ceremony of swearing in by the provisional government of Afghanistan. According to the Minister, the Indian Ambassador will be appointed within a week and will leave for Kabul where the Embassy was formally opened on Saturday. As for the Consulates, they will begin their work within the next few months.
