On Monday Russian and French Presidents Vladimir Putin and Jacques Chirac discussed, over the telephone, the most urgent issues of the international situation, such as the US decision to abrogate the ABM Treaty, the prospects for the development of Russia-EU and Russia-NATO relations, the Mideastern settlement, etc., the presidential press service said. "Russia and France have common standpoints on these issues and it confirms serious prospects for further development of Russian-French cooperation on the international scene," the press service stressed. Vladimir Putin and Jacques Chirac agreed to hold regular consultations in order to coordinate Russian and French approaches and practical activities.
