A US Congress delegation headed by Senator Thomas Daschle has arrived in the Uzbek capital. On Monday the delegation will visit the border town of Termez with the Bridge of Friendship linking the Uzbek and Afghan banks of the Amu Darya river. In the afternoon the delegation will see the historical monuments of ancient Bukhara. On Tuesday the senators will make an air trip over the drying Aral Sea. In the opinion of scientists, this ecological catastrophe is the problem of both the region and the world. In the morning on Wednesday, January 16th, the US Congress delegation will visit the Uzbek Foreign Ministry. After that, they are expected to meet Uzbek President Islam Karimov at his residence. In the afternoon, January 16th , the senators will leave for a short trip to the Kirghiz capital of Bishkek. A press conference is scheduled to be held after their return to Tashkent.
