On Friday in the capital of the People's Republic of China official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Sung Yuxi stated that the forthcoming meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization which would take place on Monday, 7 January, in Beijing would be of great significance for the subsequent development of the Organization. According to him, in the course of the meeting heads of diplomatic departments of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan would consider problems of Afghanistan, problems of international fight against terrorism, regional counteraction to "three evils": terrorism, separatism and extremism in the region, as well as major areas of further development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Sung Yuxi stressed that the forthcoming meeting of heads of Foreign Ministries of the Organization would be the first since the establishment of this organization. On Monday Igor Ivanov, Russian Foreign minister, would have a meeting with Tan Jiaxuan, head of the Chinese Foreign ministry. During the same day a meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will take place and by the results of the meeting a joint statement will be adopted. The same day Jiang Zemin, chairman of the People's Republic of China, will meet with the meeting participants.
