Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine have come out for strengthening Russia's cooperation with the European Union and NATO. The prospects of developing these relations were discussed by them on Monday in Bucharest where the session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member countries of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) is going on. In this context, Igor Ivanov positively assessed France's contribution to the perfection of the Russia-European Union and Russia-NATO activity. On his part, Hubert Vedrine spoke in support of the policy towards strengthening cooperation with these structures on the basis of equality in the interests of forming a stable system of an all-European security. The Foreign Ministers of the two countries also exchanged views on the development of the situation in Afghanistan and the prospects of a political settlement in that country.
