Cuban foreign minister Felipe Perez Roque will arrive in Moscow on an official visit on Saturday. During their negotiations Russian and Cuban foreign ministers will pay special attention to the situation around Iraq.
In addition, the ministers will discuss the topical issues of the world politics and bilateral relations. Cuban ambassador to Russia Jorge Marti reported that on Monday the Cuban foreign minister will meet with top officials of the State Duma and the Federation Council (the houses of the Russian parliament).
Spokesman for the Russian foreign minister Alexander Yakovenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti that "Cuba is one of the key partners of Russia in Latin America." Moscow is satisfied with the positive dynamics and diversity of Russian-Cuban ties. The high-ranking diplomat believes that they are characterised by "active and trustful nature of the political dialogue, and various trade, economic, cultural and scientific contacts." Yakovenko stressed that Moscow hopes that negotiations with Felipe Perez will make it possible to further develop the key spheres of cooperation and will demonstrate the importance of the Russian-Cuban collaboration.
