A delegation from the Nizhni Novgorod Region is taking part in the Expokomer-2003 trade fair, which is being held in Panama on March 12-16. As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by the press office of the regional administration, the aim of the trip is to present regional business opportunities for international entrepreneurs. The visit will include participation at the trade fair as well as negotiations with the Russian ambassador in Panama and delegations from Venezuela, Brazil, the US and other countries. The Russian delegation is being led by First Deputy Governor of the Nizhni Novgorod Region Yuri Sentiurin.
The main attraction of the Expokomer fair is that it presents business opportunities for international entrepreneurs, who buy goods via Panama making use of the Colon free zone, the largest of its kind in the West. Every month USD 1 billion of goods pass through this zone. In 2002 about 2 thousand businessmen from 33 different countries took part at the fair but more than 9.5 thousand attended in total.
