An earthquake took place in the Iranian capital. No reports on victims and the level of destruction are available yet.
According to the data of the Tehran University's geophysical center, the magnitude of the underground tremors, registered at 1:50 Moscow time, was 4.1 according to the Richter scale.
Iranian and foreign specialists that forecast earthquakes foretold earlier strong tremors in the state's capital. Lately, near the Elborz mountain range in Tehran's north there has accumulated seismic energy highly likely to come out as a powerful earthquake in Tehran, whose population exceeds 10 million.
In the scientists' opinion, the magnitude of tremors during the process of unleashing the accumulated energy might reach 7 points on the Richter scale.
