Georgia will not allow military formations to return to the country, including the Pankisi gorge. This was disclosed by Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze in his interview on air of National Radio.
"Let no one think that the Pankisi gorge will become a destabilising factor once again," Shevardnadze said, by having pointed out that there are "enough forces and reserves" for the control over the situation in the Pankisi gorge.
Heads of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, Defence Ministry, Ministry of State Security, Frontier Guard Department and the Interior Forces of the country will be controlling the new phase of the law-enforcement bodies operation in the Pankisi gorge, the President said. The reports, concerning the taken measures, will be presented to the Council of National Security.
