US President George W. Bush hailed the unanimous decision of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee to approve the Russian-American Treaty on Strategic Offensive Reductions (SOR Treaty), which was signed by the Presidents of Russia and the United States at the end of May 2002. In his written statement issued by the press service of the White House in Washington, George W. Bush expressed the hope that US Senate as a whole would also approve this document as soon as possible.
Apart from that, the head of the White House expressed his personal gratitude to Chairman of the Senate Committee, Republican Richard Lugar and member of the Committee's leadership Democrat Joseph Biden for their decision to make the discussion of the ratification of this Treaty the highest priority of Senate's work.
