On January 26th, at the parade in New Delhi on the occasion of the Republic Day, the public will for the first time see combat Mi-17 helicopters purchased from Russia, the influential "Times of India" newspaper reported on Thursday.
According to the country's defense ministry, India purchased from Russia 40 multipurpose all-weather Mi-17 helicopters. Their delivery was completed in 2002 and at present they are in the inventory of the country's Air Forces.
Mi-17 helicopters have unique tactical technical characteristics and a set of weapons that allow them to fly at the minimal height and strike different targets, including military equipment, fortified facilities and bridges, with high precision.
