The construction of a protective steel dome has begun at the site of the nuclear accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. According to the press service of the government of Ukraine, at least 200 tonnes of uranium posing a great hazard to the environment still remains at the site of the accident that took place on April 26, 1986. According to official information, the work is financed by western countries.
The protective dome is supposed to fully isolate the reactor destroyed by the accident. The protection project carried out by the best engineers of Ukraine, the US, Great Britain, and France is supposed to be completed in 10 years.
