Russian frontier guards find more than 33 kilograms of heroin and ammunition in cache on Tajik-Afghan border

Russian frontier guards have found more than 33 kilograms of heroin and a huge ammunition stock in a cache on the Tajik-Afghan border.

The press service of the Russian Frontier Troops in Tajikistan said that the cache had been found on Thursday in the area of the Pyandzh frontier guard detachment. The cache contained 2 sacks with 42 bags of heroin weighing a total of 33 kilograms and 870 grams, a foreign-made grenade launcher, ammunition and a powder charge.

The press service stressed the Russian frontier guards on the Tajik-Afghan border had seized over 4 tons of illicit drugs, including more than 2.3 tons of heroin, in 2002.
