The European Union will allocate 30 million euros to Tajikistan in 2003 fiscal year to support measures for socio-economic restoration of the republic.
This was announced at the meeting between President Emomali Rakhmonov of Tajikistan and European Commission Ambassador Kurt Juul held in Dushanbe Friday.
According to press secretary of the Tajik President Zafar Saidov, in the course of the talks Rakhmonov expressed confidence that the forthcoming second meeting of the EU-Tajikistan joint committee to be held within the framework of the agreement on trade and cooperation will consolidate efforts in settling the problems within the strategy of reducing poverty in the republic.
