On Tuesday, the police of Copenhagen will request the court to extend the custody of Chechen separatists' emissary Akhmad Zakayev, head of the city police Mikael Jargensen told RIA Novosti correspondent in a telephone conversation.
In the morning of November 26th, Copenhagen will the court will gather to consider the issue of Akhmed Zakayev's further custody, he said. The police urge to extend his term of custody. However, the decision taken by Judge Lisbet Kristensen will only be known tomorrow after the court hearings, Jargensen pointed out.
The term of Zakayev's custody fixed by the Copenhagen court on November 12th is expiring on Tuesday, November 26th. The emissary of Chechen separatists was arrested on October 30th. The grounds for it came from materials on Zakayev's involvement in terrorist activities provided by the Russian authorities.
On October 31st, Moscow sent Copenhagen an official request to extradite Zakayev. Having considered the material received in late October, Denmark's Justice Ministry, in its turn, suggested that Russia should send additional information proving charges against Zakayev till November 30th.
On November 5th, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office handed Denmark's Justice Minister Lene Espersen who came to Moscow more materials proving Zakayev's involvement in terrorist activities.
The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation accuses Akhmed Zakayev of setting up a gang of separatists which perpetrated acts of terror and other crimes on the territory of the Russian Federation.
