Sevastopol, Crimea to strengthen cooperation with Moscow

Official delegations from Sevastopol and the Crimea will be coming to the Russian capital to discuss programs of large-scale cooperation for 2003 and 2004 with the Moscow authorities.

A representative delegation from the administration of Sevastopol headed by Mayor Leonid Zhunko will be visiting the capital on November 25-28 on the invitation of the Moscow government.

As Alexander Skripnichenko, head of the Press and Information Department of the Sevastopol Mayor's Office, told journalists, the purpose of the trip is to realize a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the trade-and-economical, scientific-and-technical, and cultural-and-humanitarian spheres in 2003.

Officials from Sevastopol and their partners from Moscow will meet to talk about the opening in Moscow of a network of specialized stores, which will sell agricultural produce supplied by Sevastopol-based enterprises.

A bit later, in early December, Moscow will receive a delegation from Ukraine's Crimean Autonomous Republic, which is coming to the capital to sign a program of cooperation between the Moscow government and the Crimea in 2003 and 2004.

According to the press service of the Crimean government, the program envisages deliveries of Crimean foodstuffs /famous southern wines in the first place/, development of cooperation in the tourist and health resort business, participation of Russian investors in the commissioning and usage of health resorts that have remained under construction since the Soviet times, and reconstruction of historical and cultural museums and the Crimea's dilapidated monuments of nationwide importance.
