Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov has flown to New York to take part in the 47th session of the UN General Assembly. According to the Foreign Ministry's information department, the session, which opens on September 10, will examine 168 questions. In addition, the General Assembly must pass several hundred resolutions. The key event will be the special sitting of the UN Security Council on the fight against international terrorism, which will take place at the level of foreign ministers. Dozens of bilateral and multilateral meetings are also planned.
Igor Ivanov is to speak on September 13. A multilateral ministerial meeting on Afghanistan is planned for the same day.
