Representatives of the Foreign Ministries of the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) considered the proposals on perfecting the structure of the Commonwealth's bodies. The report of the information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, which RIA Novosti received on Friday, says that the proposals "to make amendments and additions to the normative legal acts which regulate the procedure and conditions of the activity of the CIS bodies," were worked out on August 30 in Astana at the second session of the working group at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers of the member countries of the Commonwealth.
In the opinion of all participants in the session, "the process of perfecting the structure of the bodies of the CIS countries and of raising the efficiency of their activity must have an evolutionary and purposeful character." This process must be oriented on bringing organisational forms of cooperation to conformity with its real content and with the priority trends in cooperation between the member states of the Commonwealth," points out the ministry's report.
The participants in the discussions worked over and coordinated a number of draft documents "aimed at raising the efficiency of the activity of the CIS bodies and at optimising their structure." They have also taken a decision to submit the documents they have worked out for the consideration of the sessions of the Council of the Heads of State and the Council of the Heads of Governments of the Commonwealth of Independent States which will take place in Chisinau on October 7, says the Russian Foreign Ministry in its report.
