India, UAE and Pakistan Condemn Alleged Attack on Putin’s Residence

The authorities of India, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan have condemned Russia's claim that an attempted attack was carried out on President Vladimir Putin's state residence in the Novgorod Region. The Ukrainian side has denied that it targeted the residence.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that "we are deeply concerned by reports of an attack on the residence” and called for avoiding "any actions” that could undermine diplomatic efforts.

The United Arab Emirates "condemned this regrettable attack and the threat it poses to security and stability,” the country's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that his country "condemns the reports of an attack on the residence,” adding that "this heinous act represents a serious threat to peace, security and stability.”

Following a statement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russia's Defense Ministry reported that an attempted attack on Putin's residence had been repelled. According to the ministry, 41 drones were shot down over the Novgorod Region, while another 50 drones were intercepted over the Bryansk and Smolensk regions.
